Red Sandstone Pier Caps
Item Ref: 10009
Description
Stunning pair of early 19th or possibly late 18th Century red sandstone pier caps. These are awesome and knowing they were carved by hand out of a single block of stone potentially some 200+ years ago is mind blowing. They were reclaimed from a Scottish Estate and their design is truly amazing. A square base with a raised centre, 4 arched legs onto which a ball is mounted and encased with strap work. Of course they have age related marks and the evidence of wear to the stone caused by centuries of Scottish weather but they still make a fantastic statement and are totally unique. Further photos and details on request. Ball Diameter 17” Base 21” x 21”
