18th Century Hand Carved Stone Gargoyle
Item Ref: APG 10204
Description
£2395.00
Amazing unique piece. This dates back to the late 1700’s and was 1 of 4 that would have been mounted on each corner of the church tower. The church in question was somewhere in the North East and was demolished sometime around the late 1960’s early 70’s. Unfortunately in those days demolition meant knock it down as opposed to take it down. This chap was literally pulled from the rubble and is the only one of the 4 to have survived. He suffered a bit of damage around his chin and ear but considering he came down some 70+ feet it’s incredible it’s in such good condition.
Stands at 42” high. Great statement piece. Single picture doesn’t do it justice.
